It's Almost Friday Day!

Yay! I love almost Friday day.  It means tomorrow is Friday, and we all love Friday!  Friday night does not have the same meaning as it did pre-kid.  It no longer means getting dressed up and hitting the town.  Now it means putting on your jammies, crawling into bed, and knowing you do not have to wake up the next morning!  It is beautiful!

As usual, I am already in my bed.  Tonight is different though.  I am not longer allowed to watch TV before bed. For the longest time I had banned TV in the bedroom, but I found myself a little lonely last year, and the TV became my friend.  Of course then I got hooked on Netflix and binge watched a million series.  One of my New Years goals was to watch less TV and read more.  I told myself once I finished my current binge, it was onto books.  I even bought myself a book!  And before you ask, I was not re-binging Gossip Girl, it was worse (the new 90210) LOL!  So there is my dirty secret for the day, I LOVE crappy trashy teeny bopper tv. Hahahahahaha!

Today was a good day though. I tried something new.  I ate breakfast (before I went to work).  I am not much of a morning breakfast eater.  I like my coffee, then I like to eat around 9-10am.  HOWEVER, that does not always seem to fit into my schedule so sometimes I find myself starving!  Today i made a small breakfast, enjoyed it, and did not need a snack until much later in the day!  Yay me.  My goal for next week will be breakfast every day.

Exercise:
REST DAY!  Sticking to my commitment to myself to ease my way back into the workout groove.

FitBit Stats: I am not very good with my steps.  That will be an upcoming goal. One thing at a time!
Steps: 6358 steps
Distance: 4.6km
Calories 1739
Stairs: 3 floors
Active Minutes: 0 - crazy lazy!

Clean Eating:
Breakfast: scrambled egg with leftover salmon and avocado
Morning Snack: raw veggies, hard boiled egg, macadamia nuts, turkey pepperoni
Lunch: veggie soup with chicken and Franks red hot
Dinner: curried ground pork, avocado, and cauli-fried rice

How Am I Feeling?
I started the day with a massive headache.  I tried to fight through it, but I had to take something at lunch.  It went away and has not bothered me since.  My body is feeling the workouts, but I am not sore.  I am feeling positive about the challenges I have set up for myself!

My computer is about to die, so nighty night!

Happy Hump Day!

21 Day Sugar Detox, day 3... it's in the bag!!  I thought today would be super tough.  Avery was up at 3:30am, and ready for the day!  She wanted me up and out of bed to play barbies with her!  Wow... mommy was a little cranky this morning.  I thought work would be awful, but it turned out to be a really good work day!

I have been up since 3:30, so today's post is short and too the point!

Here is a review of my day:

Exercise:
Today was a great exercise day!  My BFF came by for a Garage WOD.  Its always better when you workout in friends.

FitBit Stats: my fitbit needed charging, so I did not reach my steps.  I am confident I would have if my fitbit was fully charged.
Steps: 9274 steps
Distance: 7.13km
Calories 2024
Stairs: 45 floors
Active Minutes: 20

Clean Eating:
Breakfast, lunch and snack are all pretty much the same day to day. Dinner is usually more exciting!
Breakfast: coffee and a hard boiled egg
Morning Snack: raw veggies
Lunch: veggie soup with chicken and Franks red hot
Dinner: Pan-fried Salmon, avocado, and cauli-fried rice

How Am I Feeling?
Other than being exhausted, I feel pretty good.  I was hungrier today than normal, but that may have had something to do with being up before the crack of dawn!

Sleep Well... fingers crossed I get to sleep through the night!!

21 Day Sugar Detox: Day 2

I survived day 2!  Barely.  LOL.  I really wanted to eat some chips, or some chocolate, or something absolutely delicious.  I was starving when I came home from work, and needed to make some dinner, it was really tough not to snack.  ESPECIALLY when Avery has left over snacks all over the house.  Bah!

I did have a delicious dinner tonight thought :-)

Here is a review of my day:

Exercise:
Today was a rest day, so no active exercise, and I was not even close to my steps on my FitBit.  I went back and forth about whether to exercise today or not.  My brain wanted to, but my body was happy to rest.  I had only committed (to myself) to 3 morning workouts and a long run on sunday.  I figure for my first week I should stick to the plan.  I do not want to over do it this week. I'm just happy that I felt bad about my scheduled rest day.  (I plan on morning workouts Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with a long run on Sunday)

FitBit Stats: not at all acceptable!
Steps: 4990 steps
Distance: 3.61km
Calories 1695
Stairs: 8 floors
Active Minutes: 0 - WT......?!?!?

Clean Eating:
I think I did pretty well today.
Breakfast: coffee and a hard boiled egg
Morning Snack: raw veggies
Lunch: veggie soup with chicken and Franks red hot
Dinner: taco filling on a bed fried cauli-rice with franks and guacamole

How Am I Feeling?
I am sleepy.  It is 8:00pm and I am already laid in bed, I am absolutely exhausted. Time for lights out!

Sleep Well (I know I will)!

It's Day 1 - #jojos2016journey

Well I did it!  I made it through day 1, and fairly successfully.  I am not sure if it is the "before" pictures I took, my morning weigh in, or my "before" measurements, that scared the sillies out of me, but I am in this for the long haul!

How did my day go?  Well I woke up super early and worked out. I had my first day back at work after the break.  I ate healthy, and I was not super grumpy!

This is a snapshot of my lunch and snacks that I took for work.  Being prepared really is the key to success when doing the sugar detox.  You need to have food ready at all times so you are not tempted when hungry!

Here is a review of my day:

Exercise:
3km warm up run - no inclines (yes, I run outside and it is freezing at 5:30am)

Five Rounds
5-body rows
10-sit ups
15-squats
20-KB swings

Pull up work

I am taking it easy with the workouts right now.  I am trying to avoid the incredible sore muscles that I seem to get when I jump right back into the swing of things.  I'm sticking to body weight exercises and a little kettlebell work for now.

FitBit Stats:
Steps: 9234 steps - not quite meeting the 10,000 steps, but I am ok with that for day 1
Distance: 7.22km
Calories 2037
Stairs: 22 floors
Active Minutes: 17 - hardly seems enough

Clean Eating:
I think I did pretty well today.
Breakfast: coffee and a hard boiled egg
Morning Snack: raw veggies
Lunch: veggie soup with chicken and Franks red hot
Dinner: taco filling on a bed of spaghetti squash and parsnip noodles with franks and guacamole

How Am I Feeling?
I am tired!  I think that is fair since it is the first day of the detox, and the first day back at work.  Other than that, I feel pretty good about my first day, and I am looking forward to the upcoming days :-)

That's it for today.  I'm not promising to an update everyday, but I will try to keep it going!  If there is anything you would like me to write about or share, please let me know!!!

Happy days!

A new year and a new journey!

It's a new year.  It's 2016. Wow!  I can safely say I am happy that 2015 is over.  It was one heck of a year, and I am glad I was able to shut the door and move on.  I'm not going into details of the drama of my last year, nobody wants to hear my sad story.  It is time to move on, and make the most of the new year!

This year is my year to shine!  That's my #hashtag for this year. This year I am going to make some positive changes in my life, and as I am forever saying, I am going to #getmygrooveback (feel free to follow me on instagram @jojos_madhouse)

What am I going to do to make this year different?
-I am going to workout consistently - (from the comfort of my garage gym)
-I am going to eat clean
-I am going to be more present
-I am going to be HOT!

I have said many of the above before, so what will make this any different?
I am doing it this year with the support of my best friend! We have been friends for 28 years. We have been through a lot together, and last year was rough on both of us (for different reasons).  We are 39 this year, we only have a year left until we turn 40. Both of us want to look fabulous when we turn 40, and I think I think more importantly we both want to feel fabulous.

Please follow our journey. I will even ask my BFF to make some guest posts about her journey.

Tomorrow I am starting the 21 Day sugar detox.  This will be my fourth attempt.  I have only successfully managed to complete the detox once.  I've made it day 19, and completely failed twice. This will be success number 2!

I hope you will join me through 2016 and all of the positive changes I hope it brings :)
